Mijatovic: Vinicius’ behavior is indeed inappropriate and the club must maintain Alonso’s authority

Beyond Real Madrid's victory and the conflict before the end, Vinicius's extremely dissatisfied body language with Xabi Alonso when he was replaced has become the core issue and focus of public opinion that continued to ferment after the El Clasico last Sunday.

The Brazilian player finally apologized to all levels of the club - president, fans and teammates - for his out-of-control behavior, but the statement never mentioned the name of the coach, who was the main recipient of his disrespectful behavior. It is worth mentioning that the contract extension between Vinicius and Real Madrid after 2027 is still pending.

Real Madrid legend Peja Mijatovic talked about how Real Madrid should resolve the conflict between the new coach and core players on the "El Larguero" program.

——Statement on Vinicius

"You have said it very comprehensively... Vinicius's apology is a positive move, but it is indeed a bit abnormal not to mention the coach. Maybe there is a team helping him handle these matters, but this is really inappropriate. Not naming the coach shows that the two lack a tacit understanding. Maybe they have met at the training base, or made an appointment to communicate at another time. I cannot And know...but what's wrong with including the coach's name in the statement? This is my opinion..."

-How should the club level respond

"First of all, we must be extremely calm, recognize that the game is still going on, and must not destroy the environment of this team that leads the table and has a good atmosphere...You cannot destroy the team atmosphere because of one player, but you must either ask both parties to solve the problem. Sit down and communicate, or intervene directly. But always stay calm and negotiate internally to avoid leaks. "

- The next two games will test whether Xavi Alonso will "punish" the players. "This surprised me because as an inexperienced young coach, he did not lose his personality. Of course. It would not be so surprising if it happened to Ancelotti or other senior coaches... What worries me is that two days after the El Clasico victory, with a five-point lead over Barcelona, public opinion only focused on Vinicius and his statement. The attention now is obviously too high for an incident that should not be over-exaggerated."

- Decision-making and authority should belong to the coach, right?

"There is no doubt. Although the player is the protagonist and Vinicius has brought us countless joys, his behavior in the El Clasico that attracted global attention was indeed inappropriate. No one can defend his actions, and his apology itself admitted a mistake. The club must always maintain the authority of the coach because there are 20 other players in the lineup. But the most important thing is that I think it is extremely abnormal that only Vinicius is talked about two days after the El Clasico."
