Sheffield United officially announced that Atlanta 27-year-old central defender Godfrey joined the team on loan.
Sheffield United issued an announcement confirming that it will be loaned to Atlanta central defender Godfrey, with the loan period of one season. He will wear the No. 5 jersey. This transaction still requires approval from FIFA.
Godfrey said: "I am from Yorkshire and it feels great to be back home. I can't wait to start a new journey. The experience in Italy is great. I learned a lot about football, lifestyle and language, but nothing is better than staying in my own country, especially close to my family, so I am looking forward to this return."
"The coach has some great ideas, I look forward to studying under him, and I think we will have a lot of positive performances to look forward to this season. I have been training hard in Atlanta, accumulating a lot of game time and hard training classes, so I feel like I'm ready."
Godfrey was loaned to Ipswich by Atlanta in the second half of last season and played 5 games for Ipswich.
