Onana: It’s amazing to look back at what I’ve accomplished in ten years; I’ve never been afraid of anyone in my life

Onana was interviewed by Turkish media Sporx and talked about his mentality and insights into the goalkeeper position.
Did you do anything before going on the field that you thought would be helpful?
Onana: "I believe in God and always cross myself. But my motivation is automatic. Every time I put on my boots or my gloves, I want to win. Because at the end of the day, we play for this. We play to win and I'm not afraid of anything. People. When I step on the court, I either win or learn something. I don't think I'm a person who gives up. If I don't win, I take it as an opportunity to learn.
"For example, my first game here was against Fenerbahce. We played well but didn't win. But I don't think this is a failure. For example, I used this to understand what the referees here are like. "
Career
Onana: "Looking back, my career was really great. There were a lot of ups and downs during this period, but it also meant that I learned a lot and gained a lot of experience. Coming from Cameroon, playing for Barcelona, Ajax, Inter Milan, Manchester United and now Trabzonspor, it's fantastic. To go from there all the way to where I am today and look at what I've accomplished in the last 10 to 11 years, it's awesome, it's really awesome. "
Changes in the goalkeeper position
Onana: "The goalkeeper position, especially in the past 20 years, has changed. I think so too, because looking at how goalkeepers move on the field now is very different from years ago. But when it comes to running an offense, what matters most is opportunity, the options at your disposal. It’s what your teammates can provide you. You may have great skills with your feet, but if your passing options are blocked and if the players in front of you don't create facilities for you, then you're going to have a tough time. I think it's a combination of factors. Because if your team likes to have the ball a lot, it will be easier for the goalkeeper to organize the offense. Of course you can always play long balls, but sometimes teams don’t need that. "
Guardiola once praised
Onana: "For me, the most important thing most of the time is trying to do the best for the team. If I need to build an attack, I start by analyzing: Is the opponent pressing? Is it the winger who presses, the center forward, or the center back who presses forward? These are all things I need to look at when I get the ball. I pay attention to what my opponent is doing, see what options are available, and then make a decision. Of course, it's always nice to hear comments like this from Guardiola. He is one of the best coaches in the history of football. But like I always say, when I'm running an offense, it's my teammates who create options for me. If they could help me, it would make everything better. "
Fearless
Onana: "I'm never afraid of anyone. Because in this life I only fear God. So to be honest, no one scares me. "
