TA reporter Zach Harper wrote an article about Jokic's future.
The article reads: "Jokic's contract has two years left + one year left, and the player option can be renewed in advance for about $200 million for three years. But Jokic did not choose to renew the contract with the Nuggets in advance because he could sign a larger contract in a year."
"We don't have to worry too much about Jokic's future. The Nuggets experienced a chaotic season and relied on Jokic to enter the second round. Then they took the first round to send Porter Jr., which brought Cameron Johnson and reduced the salary pressure. This allowed them to sign Valan and Hada Jr. Witness and Bruce Brown come to strengthen the bench. "
" The Nuggets have changed from a team that relies solely on Jokic to a challenger to defending champions. The only variable is that Jokic seems to prefer horse racing, and the NBA is just a job for him. I wouldn't be surprised if Jokic chooses to retire at the age of 32 or 33."
Jokic is 30 years old this year, and his contract has 55.22 million in the 2025-26 season, 59.03 million in the 2026-27 season and 62.84 million in the 2027-28 season.
