At Real Madrid's annual club meeting, Florentino questioned Tebas's salary increase, and Tebas responded in a social media post.
Florentino said at the conference: "Mr. Tebas's salary has increased tenfold, but it is at the expense of the funds needed for the survival of the club. This is even more abnormal."
Tebas's social media responded: "About my salary, there has been a lot of talk today, but the real facts are rarely told. My fixed salary is determined every four years by the Standing Committee (14 clubs) and the General Assembly (42 clubs) are approved by secret ballot, while variable pay is voted on by the Standing Committee in the same way every year. In other words, the clubs that Florentino said "have to sell players to pay my salary" are the same clubs that have the power to approve or veto my salary. "It's a long way from those years when Real Madrid supported my first salary increase... then they thought my salary was okay. Now, because I didn't join his "saviorism", he started to resort to populist and demagogic tactics."
