Recently, McGrady talked about Kobe on the show "Timeless Sports".
McDie said: "When Shaq left the Lakers, Kobe struggled, the Lakers struggled, tell me, this guy is so great, when Shaq left, he has not broken through the first round in those three years. Kobe is great, isn't we witnessing greatness? Kobe didn't break through the first round or made it to the playoffs, that's still great."
In 2005-07, the Lakers did not break through the first round of the playoffs (one time did not make it to the playoffs).
