Tyson Chandler: O Neal s performance in the 99-00 season is the greatest individual season of the century

Former NBA player Tyson Chandler was asked about the greatest individual seasons of the past 25 years on the podcast show "To The Baha". After deep thought, he chose O'Neal's 99-00 season.

Candler said: "I might choose O'Neal because they won the championship and had too many honors."

O'Neal averaged 29.7 points, 13.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 0.5 steals and 3.0 blocks in the 99-00 season. He was short of one vote to get the unanimous MVP, and he was second in the selection of the best defensive player of the year. He was also selected for the All-First Team and the All-Defensive Second Team that season, and he dominated both offense and defense.

Under O'Neal's leadership, the Lakers won 67 wins and 15 losses and eventually won the NBA championship. O'Neal also won the MVP in the Finals.

Candler also talked about the confrontation with O'Neal, saying, "When someone asked me, 'Who is the most dominant player you have ever played against?' I don't count O'Neal because I can't defend him at all. That figure, that way of moving, you can't stop him."
